The House of Representatives’ Ad Hoc Committee to Investigate the Petroleum Products Subsidy Regime from 2013 to 2021 has said it does not know the profile of 23 oil and gas companies trading in Nigeria. The panel is investigating payments made by the Federal Government through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (now Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited) for the subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol, within eight years. A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on Wednesday said the Christian Association of Nigeria’s opposition to the All Progressives Congress’ Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket was godly. Some unknown gunmen attacked Owo community in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State yesterday evening. This came seven weeks after some suspected terrorists attacked St. Francis Catholic Church in the community, killing no fewer than 40 worshippers. The Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogere Unit Command in Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State, said it had handed over the sum of N310,700 and other materials to the relatives of crash victims. The FRSC Public Education Officer, Ogun Sector Command, Florence Okpe, disclosed this in a statement. Okpe said the crash occurred at about 6:25 am on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway before Iperu bridge, killing four persons while six persons sustained injuries.

The All Progressives Congress has named the lawmaker representing Sokoto East, Senator Abdullahi Gobir, as the new Senate Leader. This is contained in a letter by the National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and read at plenary by the President of the Senate, Senator, Ahmad Lawan.
