Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom on Wednesday accused the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, of failing to honour the democratic choice in the selection of his running mate. Protests over economic hardship and rising inflation in Ghana have reached a second day as people in their hundreds thronged the streets to express their displeasure over the country’s situation. The demonstration, according to reports, was a two-day protest led by the local lobby group “Arise Ghana,” intended to denounce the economic hardships. The number of active internet subscriptions in Nigeria rose quarter-on-quarter by 2.7 per cent to 145.8 million in the first quarter of 2022, from 141.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2021 The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) disclosed that the number of active voice subscribers also rose by 2.09 per cent to 199.5 million in Q1’22 from 195.4 million in Q4’21. The report showed that Lagos had the highest number of active voice subscribers and active internet subscriptions in Q1’22 with 24.2 million and 17.8 million respectively.

Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has welcomed a new child with her husband, Ned Nwoko. Both Daniels and Nwoko made this known via their Instagram pages today as they also celebrated the second birthday of their first child together. Sharing dazzling pictures of the celebrant, Nwoko revealed the new child, who is also a boy, was born in Amman, Jordan. A High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has sentenced a dismissed policeman, James Imhalu, to death by hanging for the murder of a commercial driver in 2015, over his refusal to pay him a N100 bribe. Justice Elsie Thompson while delivering her judgment said evidence before the court showed that the sacked sergeant intentionally fired a shot at the commercial driver, Legbara David at Whimpey junction in Port Harcourt. A worker at Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Mr. Excellent Ugbune, has been honoured by the Oghara branch of the United Bank for Africa for his display of patriotism in returning excess cash paid to him by the bank’s Automated Teller Machine. The bank, in its appreciation letter to Mr. Ugbune in Warri, applauded the polytechnic worker “for his show of honesty and patriotism exemplified” in returning the excess cash paid to him by their ATM.
