Rainstorm that accompanied a two-hour rainfall on  Friday evening destroyed 105 buildings in Oke-Ako, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

It also destroyed electricity facilities across the town, thereby throwing the people into blackout.

Ekiti State governor, Biodun Oyebanji, during on-the-spot assessment of the town yesterday, condoled with the residents.

Oyebanji, represented by his deputy, Mrs Monisade Afuye, described the occurrence as highly devastating.

Aribasoye assured the people that succour would soon come for the victims, urging them to be peaceful and have fate in the government to help recover their losses.

The General Manager, Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency, Mr Jide Borode, said the rainstorm effect could have been minimized, if the landlords had keyed into the tree planting initiative of the state government
