Super Eagles assistant coach, George Finidi, had tasked Terem Moffi to take his chance in the team as they prepare to face Algeria in an international friendly in Oran next Tuesday.

The Lorient striker has been in a rich vein of form for his Ligue 1 side this season scoring six goals in eight league games and is expected to lead the Eagles’ attack in the absence of striking duo Victor Osimhen and Umar Sadiq.

His strike in Lorient’s comfortable 3-1 win at Auxerre moved Régis Bris’ side into the lofty heights of the third position.

It also closed the gap on the Paris Saint-Germain duo with both Neymar (eight goals) and Kylian Mbappe (seven goals) unable to find the net in the champions’ 1-0 win at Lyon.

Moffi who is one of the players who arrived at the Eagles camp in Constantine on Monday is expected to lead the Eagles attack alongside Cyriel Dessers as the three times African champions chase their third victory under Jose Peseiro.

The Nigerian forward will also be eager to add to his tally for the Eagles in the friendly having made seven appearances since making his debut against Cameroon in 2021.
