The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has said the absence of the President, Muhammadu Buhari at the re-election rally of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola held in Osogbo yesterday was a sign of his disapproval of any attempt to rig the Saturday governorship election. A statement signed by the PDP caretaker chairman, Akindele Adekunle, then called on the security agencies to take a cue from that and reject unlawful directive to rig Saturday’s poll.

Ahead of the Saturday governorship election in Osun State, the police and other security agencies, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, have declared war on vote-buyers and mapped out strategies to checkmate their activities. To curb the malpractices during the poll, the security agencies have deployed detectives, including undercover operatives, to monitor the election and apprehend vote-buyers. The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria has warned that a shutdown of manufacturing activities is imminent if nothing is done to address the soaring cost of energy bedevilling the sector. Some traders are counting their losses as fire gutted a section of the popular Bodija Market in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. the fire started very early in this morning Some traders said they lost goods worth millions of naira in the incident. The cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained but it was gathered that the fire was eventually put out by fire fighters, traders and security guards at the market.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has said that it has arrested one of the suspects, Suleiman Sidi, who escaped during the terror attack on Kuje prison, last Tuesday. In a statement signed by the NDLEA Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, it was revealed that the suspect was arrested at a motor park in Abuja. A check of the wanted list from the Nigerian Correctional Services revealed a Suleiman Idi with a resemblance to the suspect arrested by the NDLEA.
