A faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, has denied reports that the party formed a coalition with other political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

You will recall that last week about seven opposition parties had formed a coalition called the Coalition of Concerned Political Parties.

But the Dr Agbo Major-led faction of the NNPP denied such a report and coalition as fake and untrue.

According to a letter addressed to the Board of Trustees Chairman of the PDP by the National Secretary of the faction, Olaposi Oginni, the party insisted that it has not authorised any coalition with any other party while warning the PDP and the public to disregard any perceived involvement of the NNPP in the coalition.

In the letter, Oginni stated that he has the instruction of the founder and life member of the Board of Trustees of the NNPP, Dr Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam; the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the NNPP, Dr Temitope Aluko; the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the NNPP, Engr. Abdullahi Babayo; and the National Chairman, Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major, to warn the PDP not to engage people that do not represent the interests of the NNPP, especially its presidential candidate in the last general election, Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, and his supporters.
